New Release – Kiloview Released U40, a 4K NDI® Codec

Changsha, China – JANUARY 25, 2020 – Kiloview today launched the U40, which transforms any camera into a NDI® camera. The Kiloview U40 easily converts HDMI/USB/IP streams to NDI® and is up to 4KP60 compatible.  With only one network cable, video sources from HDMI, conference, USB cameras and others can easily go into the NDI® world and enjoy the advantages of IP-based transmission featuring ultra-high image quality and ultra-low latency.

“The concept behind the U40 encoder is to provide a unit that can be put with a wide range of cameras, and immediately turn them into an NDI camera. NDI is a strong and versatile solution for video over IP, and the U40 integrates PTZ control with NDI High Bandwidth and NDI|HX at the same time,” said Jacob Zuo, the CTO of Kiloview and the software developer of U40 encoder. “in addition, the U40 features dual ethernet ports for camera network functionality, POE to power the U40 encoder itself as well as the ability to power your monitor, recorder, or even your cameras with up to 15W power. An array of bright tally lights ensure your talent will be able to clearly identify which camera is live, which you can see from our videos.”

With Comprehensive NDI® performance, Kiloview U40 converts HDMI to NDI® with up to 4Kp60 resolution. In addition, it is compatible with NDI®|HX. U40 also converts IP streams such as SRT/RTMP/RTSP/UDP/HLS to NDI®|HX (available shortly by software upgrade).

The U40 encoder has an exquisite compact round design with a robust metal casing, integrating a wide range of functions including network switching, NDI® encoding, heat dissipation, POE and DC Out. 

Additional key features 
– Flexible mounting options, with two methods for hot shoe fixing – it can either be installed on the camera upright or horizontally. 
– Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports which can be applied to two different networks simultaneously. 
– Supports PTZ control, receiving the PTZ signal sent by the NDI® production system or NDI® decoder, and then controlling the PTZ camera through the serial port (232/485, etc) or network. 
– The U40 is encased in aluminum alloy for better heat dissipation and thermal conductivity compared to plastic or other materials and designed with heat dissipation holes on the top.
