Background: A New Challenge for an Academic Institution
West Virginia University (WVU), known for its excellence in both academics and athletics, faced a modern video transmission challenge in one of its sports facilities. The school’s production team had long relied on unreliable SDI transmission solutions for live video transmission. However, within a specific enclosed venue, these units failed to perform due to signal strength limitations. As a result, to prepare for the upcoming football season and growing live-streaming needs across campus, the team started looking for a solution that was reliable, flexible, and easy to deploy, while still delivering broadcast-grade video performance.

The Challenge: Maintaining Video Reliability in Demanding Environments
Inside this enclosed sports venue, the existing SDI point-to-point system became unreliable, where signal strength was weak and caused unreliable video transmission. Moreover, the problem became more noticeable during events with large crowds, which added wireless interference and made stable connections harder to maintain.
In addition to this, the team needed a solution that could support mobile streaming—allowing them to move through stadiums, training areas, and outdoor spaces—without sacrificing video quality or reliability. Therefore, finding a system that was both flexible and dependable enough for these varied conditions was essential.
The Demo: Real-World Testing in a Stadium Setting
With an existing use of Kiloview products in their NDI production environment and appreciating the value Kiloview offers compared to other providers, WVU deployed the Kiloview wireless bonding encoder P3 to conduct live streaming tests at their stadium.

• A Kiloview P3 unit was connected to a Panasonic camera via SDI, streaming at 720p with a bitrate of 10 Mbps to balance video quality and bandwidth requirements, while also supporting multiple resolutions up to 1080p to suit different broadcast needs.
• Leveraging dual SIM cards, the P3 utilized bonded 4G LTE connections for stable signal performance in high-traffic areas. Thanks to seamless connectivity without complex setup, the device also supports 5G bonding, ensuring faster and more reliable connections as networks evolve.
• The incoming video streams were managed by Kiloview’s KiloLink Server Pro, self-deployed on Amazon AWS. This server aggregated multiple mobile networks to ensure stable and reliable transmission. The ability to privately deploy without a subscription adds flexibility and data security—especially for institutions like universities. It also can enable flexible streaming to various platforms or integration with Kiloview decoders for local output.
• The Kiloview P3 solution transmitted video via the SRT protocol to a Kiloview decoder D350, which decoded the incoming stream and output the video via SDI to the production truck for real-time display on the stadium’s jumbotron. Thanks to the Kiloview decoder’s ability to directly receive and decode the stream, no extra receiving server or third-party hardware was needed, simplifying the entire process while reducing costs.

The Result: Low Budget, Pro-Grade Results
The Kiloview wireless bonding encoder P3 delivered a stable, low-latency live streaming solution that met the demands of real-time video transmission in a challenging stadium environment. Its seamless connection via 4G cellular networks enabled quick deployment without complex configuration. The system reliably transmitted high-quality video feeds to the production truck for live display, demonstrating strong potential for future campus events.
The WVU team praised the system as a reliable and flexible solution that delivered professional-grade live streaming without complex setup or expensive equipment, achieving outstanding results with a surprisingly low budget—far exceeding initial expectations. Positive feedback further highlighted the P3’s ease of use, excellent image quality, and reliable operation.
This successful deploymentat WVU demonstrates how Kiloview’s P3, KiloLink Server Pro, and decoder D350 combine to provide a flexible, reliable mobile streaming solution integrated with existing broadcast infrastructure. Whether for sports broadcasting, campus events, or remote live coverage, Kiloview provides the tools to stream reliably, scale affordably, and operate independently—all without compromising video quality or operational control.
